Autoimmune Conditions & What You Can Do to Heal Yourself

It all started here . . .

“The dramatic and rapid growth in overall use of glyphosate will likely contribute to a host of adverse environmental and public health consequences,” Charles Benbrook

It was about 50 years ago – 1971 to be exact, when a new weed killer was introduced into our industrial farming system. Monsanto’s glyphosate (the active ingredient in Roundup®) made its entrance.

It quickly became the “most heavily used weed-killer in history”. Especially for massive industrial farming operations who produced “cash crops” like wheat, soy, corn, canola, and sugar beets.

And Then Came GMOs

And since glyphosate killed everything in its path, it was necessary to figure out a way to keep the seeds from dying when they were exposed to the stuff.

That’s how Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs) came to be.

GMOs are genetically tweaked to withstand glyphosate and still produce a crop.

A bonus for those growing these crops as it made weed killing as easy as a quick dose of spray.

Not so good for us as the processed foods we’ve grown accustomed to eating (anything made with wheat, corn, soy, etc and including the Cheerios you might be feeding your toddlers) all come with a trace of weed killer.

And weed killer was not in Mother Nature’s plan when she designed the human anatomy.

Our Natural Defenses at Risk

We humans have natural defenses to protect us.

Your skin, for instance, is a barrier to protect you from external pathogens.

You also have an internal protective “skin” – your gut lining (aka – the epithelial lining), to keep undigested food and toxins from sneaking into your bloodstream where they don’t belong.

If your gut lining breaks down, your immune system (which sits right outside this barrier) goes crazy trying to keep the invaders at bay.

But then . . .  What could possibly break down your gut barrier?

The Glyphosate Link

Glyphosate not only kills weeds, it’s linked to a breakdown of the gut lining and disruption of our microbiome, opening us to all sorts of health challenges, including autoimmune conditions.

If you’re eating processed foods, you’re literally ingesting traces of glyphosate on a daily basis –  as it is estimated that 80% of all processed foods are contaminated with the stuff.

Autoimmune Disease – An Attack From Within

While this is by no means a simple condition, an autoimmune disease is one in which your immune system gets confused and attacks a part of your body instead of the pathogens and bad guys within you that are causing the problem.

It’s often called a “case of mistaken identity” because some of the bad guys that break through the gut lining look remarkably similar to parts of your body.

And the “Immune cells on patrol, armed and ready to defend the body against invading pathogens, mistake normal human cells for infected cells and turn their weapons on their own healthy tissues.”

You find yourself attacked from within – the perfect human ‘Trojan Horse’.

It’s interesting to note that the rise in autoimmune conditions directly parallels the use of glyphosate. As little as 50 years ago autoimmune conditions hardly existed. Today they’re epidemic, encompassing close to 80 different conditions . . Crohn’s, ulcerative colitis, Hashimoto’s, Graves, Rheumatoid arthritis, Lupus, diabetes, MS, Scleroderma, Psoriasis, arthritis . . . to name just a few.

Heal Yourself – Some Tips

  1. As much as possible remove refined sugars and processed food from your diet. Buy Non-GMO and/or organic products. Organic products are always Non-GMO.
  2. Remove seed oils from your diet – unless non-gmo and expeller pressed, these are highly inflammatory and harmful to your metabolism.
  3. Get plenty of filtered water – Glyphosate is believed not to accumulate in the body, so making sure you get a good daily amount of filtered water flushing it out is important. I keep a bottle of spring water or fileterd water with me throughout the day to keep things moving.
  4. Add GlycoDetox to your supplement regimen – I just learned of this supplement and found it is the only one of its kind with clinical data to support its claims. This natural supplement binds to toxins, protect your organs, prevents uptake of glyphosate, improves detox pathways, and repairs/replenishes your gut microbiome.
  5. Consider adding ION* Gut Support to your regimen of supplements. If you’ve ever heard the phrase “eat dirt”, it applies here (because “dirt” is filled with beneficial microbes that are good for you.). ION is a natural “humic” substance, derived from ancient soils that helps tighten up the gut lining and support your healthy gut bacteria. You can order it here and receive a discount off your order.
  6. Supplement with L-Glutamine. As its name implies, you might think of it as “glue” for the gut lining. (Same link as above)

Live Long | Age Strong

PS – Many countries around the world have banned glyphosate. The US is not among them as the EPA is not on board and claims Roundup doesn’t cause cancer . . . .

PPS – Glyphosate is also used as a dessicant, sprayed on wheat to speed up its harvesting time. Which may be the reason so many people have allergies to wheat.
